Low-Profile Hold-Down Clamp

The Low-Profile Hold-Down Clamp is designed for securing workpieces to the Broinwood CNC Spoilboard System while keeping the clamping hardware as low as possible above the work surface.

The clamp mounts to a Split Expansion Anchor using a 1/4"-20 bolt. Its elongated center slot allows the clamp to slide forward or backward, making it easy to position the clamping point where it is needed.

The low-profile design is especially useful for thinner workpieces and CNC operations where keeping the workholding hardware away from the toolpath is important.

How to Use

1. Install a Split Expansion Anchor in a suitable pocket near the workpiece.
2. Position the Low-Profile Hold-Down Clamp over the anchor.
3. Insert a 1/4"-20 bolt through the center slot and thread it into the Threaded Insert.
4. Slide the clamp toward the workpiece until the appropriate step engages the edge of the material.
5. Tighten the bolt until the workpiece is held securely.

Do not overtighten. Use only the amount of clamping force required to hold the workpiece securely.

Adjustable Step Heights

The clamp has two different stepped profiles, allowing the clamping height to be adjusted for different workpiece thicknesses.

One end has smaller, finer steps, while the opposite end has larger steps.

Simply rotate the clamp and select the side and step that best matches the height of your workpiece.

This provides multiple clamping-height options without requiring additional spacers or different clamp sizes.

Tactile Orientation Indicator

A small raised indicator is built into one side of the clamp so you can identify the orientation by touch without having to flip the clamp over and visually check the steps.

When the raised indicator is on the right side, the smaller steps are facing toward you.

When the raised indicator is on the left side, the larger steps are facing toward you.

This makes it faster and easier to select the correct step profile during setup.

Important

Always select a step that provides solid contact with the workpiece before tightening the clamp.

The clamp should apply enough downward holding force to secure the workpiece without excessive tightening.

Before starting the CNC, always verify that the Low-Profile Hold-Down Clamp, mounting bolt, Split Expansion Anchor, and all other workholding components are completely clear of the programmed toolpath.
